Glory to God and Peace to His People
Luke 2:14 (ESV)
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Not everyone will experience God’s peace. This is real peace. Sometimes people can fabricate or imagine somehow that they have peace when in reality they do not. God offers reconciliation in only one way—through His Son Jesus Christ. To bring God glory and mankind peace with God is why Jesus was born.
Romans 5:1–5 (ESV)
5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
How does Paul say we have peace with God?
Peace with God is reconciliation with God. This true peace is different than feelings of calmness and tranquility. Many times people have substituted a feeling of peace for actual peace. Just because someone has feelings of quietness does not automatically mean they have biblical peace. That ONLY comes through faith in Christ.
Compare Luke 2:14 to Romans 5:1-2 how are these verses similar?
